Depression Treatment & Support

Helping You Find Your Way Back to Yourself
Depression can affect far more than your mood. It can change the way you think, sleep, eat, work, communicate, connect with others, and experience everyday life. Things that once felt enjoyable may no longer bring the same satisfaction. Motivation can disappear, energy can decline, and even simple responsibilities can begin to feel overwhelming.

At Horizon Mental Health & Wellness PLLC, we understand that depression can look different from one person to another. Our approach is centered on understanding the whole person, identifying what may be contributing to your symptoms, and developing an individualized treatment plan designed around your needs and goals.

Depression Can Take Many Forms
Depression doesn't always mean feeling sad. Some people experience persistent sadness or frequent crying, while others primarily notice irritability, emotional numbness, exhaustion, withdrawal, or difficulty functioning.

Symptoms may include:

-
Persistent sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
-
Loss of interest or pleasure in activities
-
Low energy and chronic fatigue
-
Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
-
Changes in sleep or appetite
-
Irritability or frustration
-
Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or inadequacy
-
Social withdrawal and isolation
-
Decreased motivation
-
Difficulty keeping up with work, school, relationships, or responsibilities
-
Thoughts about death, self-harm, or suicide
Whatever depression looks like for you, your experience deserves to be heard and taken seriously.

How Horizon Helps
Our care begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We take time to understand your symptoms, how long they have been occurring, how they are affecting your life, your medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, medications, sleep, stressors, relationships, substance use, family history, and personal treatment goals.

We also consider whether another condition could be contributing to or occurring alongside depression, such as anxiety, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, bipolar disorder, substance use, sleep problems, or medical conditions.
This allows us to develop a treatment plan based on you—not simply a diagnosis on a chart.

Personalized Depression Treatment
Depending on your individual needs, treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy recommendations or referrals, lifestyle and behavioral strategies, education, coordination with other healthcare providers, and ongoing psychiatric follow-up.

When medication is appropriate, we don't believe in a "prescribe it and forget it" approach. We monitor how you're responding, discuss potential side effects, evaluate changes in your symptoms and functioning, and make adjustments when clinically appropriate.

Our goal isn't simply to ask, "Are you less depressed?"

We also want to know:

Are you sleeping better? Is your energy returning? Are you enjoying things again? Are you functioning better at work or home? Are your relationships improving? Do you feel more like yourself?

Those changes matter.

You Are an Active Part of Your Treatment
Mental health care should be collaborative. We want you to understand your treatment options and feel comfortable asking questions about your care.

Together, we can identify realistic goals, monitor your progress, recognize obstacles, and adjust your treatment plan as your needs change.

Some people need short-term support during a particularly difficult period. Others benefit from longer-term psychiatric management. There is no single treatment path that is right for everyone.

At Horizon Mental Health & Wellness PLLC, we're here to help you move forward—one step at a time.

If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or believe you may harm yourself or someone else, DO NOT wait for a routine appointment or message response. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. In the United States, you can also call or text 988 for immediate crisis support.
